Rune is from our 2024 Pixie/Brew litter. I'm very excited to watch her grow up.
One definition of "Rune" is "a mark or letter of mysterious or magic significance." When Rune was born, she had the same white hairs inside her paw pads that her mother has and she was the only puppy in the litter that had it. Rune casting is an ancient art if divination and I chose this name as a nod to her mother's kennel name and registered name.
Rune is a really cool girl, and I get the feeling she still has a lot more to show me about herself but she prefers to surprise me with things she's worked out while I wasn't paying attention, lol.
My favorite things about Rune-
She's just physically beautiful, moderate, nice proportion of leg. Her front end is an improvement on her mother. She has a beautiful thick coat that is magically easy to dry. She is extremely athletic, fast, graceful, and apparently immune to gravity.
She's got the drive but her off switch when not working is excellent. Extremely easy to live with. She will work for food or toys but she has a strong work ethic based on pleasing her person and I believe she cares more about figuring out how to do what I asked of her and do it well than whatever reward I attach to it.
She's got her mother's nose and I LOVE working her in tracking an scent work.
Rune's first recorded jump in competition was 15' 6" in ASCA dock jumping!
Rune is showing in UKC conformation. In her very first show ever, she was awarded Best Female over her mom and another Labrador bitch. She already has her 3 competition wins and about half her points to finish. Very proud of her!
She is an excellent tracker, like her mother. She's already certified to take the AKC Tracking Dog test, which means she tracked a TD equivalent blind track successfully. Hopefully we will get a spot in a test in 2026.
