Upcoming Manners Class: Starts May 10, 2025!
This 6-week class is designed to help teach your young or adolescent dog polite leash/social manners. Classes are every Saturday from 10:00am-11:00pm.
The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test (CGC) is a certification program that evaluates dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere. Dogs who pass the CGC test are considered reliable family and community members and will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. This 6-week includes an official AKC test that will allow you to get GCG certification.
*Note - if we have not met you or your dog previously, we will need to quickly evaluate your level of control and/or provide you with equipment to participate in this class. This $40 evaluation takes 15 min and may require the purchase of additional training items.
The CGC test evaluates dogs on the following:
* For NEW clients, we require a 15-minute initial evaluation one hour prior to the first class to determine your needs and training plan at a one-time charge of $40. - Greets a friendly stranger
- Sits politely for petting
- Welcomes being groomed, brushed; allows paws and ears to be handled
- Walks as directed on a loose leash
- Moves politely through a crowd
- Sits, lies down, and stays in place on command
- Comes when called
- Behaves politely around other dogs
- Reacts with confidence to distractions
- Can be left with a trusted person
